On April 3, 2023, at approximately 9:30 am, Pembina Valley RCMP received a report of a semi-trailer having hit the ditch on Highway 3, located approximately two kilometres north of Highway 14, in the Rural Municipality of Stanley.
The investigation has determined that a southbound semi-trailer, being driven by a 47-year-old male from Winnipeg, lost control and entered the east ditch. The driver of the semi-trailer then exited his vehicle and was standing on the passenger side of it. At that time, a deck truck also lost control on the ice-covered roadway and entered the ditch, striking him.
The 47-year-old male was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The 39-year-old male driver of the deck truck was not injured.
Pembina Valley RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
