More than 500 nurses from across the province will gather in Brandon this week for the Manitoba Nurses Union (MNU) 48th annual general meeting. It’ll be the first in-person meeting since 2019. The 2020 AGM was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2021 and 2022 AGMs were held virtually.
The meeting takes place at the Keystone Centre, Tuesday and Wednesday, and will feature remarks by union president Darlene Jackson focusing on protecting our public health-care system and the nursing crisis.
An MNU media release says the meeting will also include a Keynote Address on April 25th by Françoise Mathieu, co-founder of TEND Academy, who’s a sought-after speaker and educator in Canada, the U.S. and around the world. “With over 25 years of work in the field of mental health, she brings with her extensive experience as a crisis counselor, and nearly a decade of working with Health Canada’s CFMAP (Canadian Forces Member Assistance Program). Françoise is the author of The Compassion Fatigue Workbook, published by Routledge in 2012 as well as the author of several feature articles.
And a Mini-Keynote Address is scheduled on April 26th with Sajel Bellon, founder of a company specializing in well-being, human connection and transformative growth. Sajel is proud to be able to make a difference for those navigating occupational stress and its influence on their domestic relationships.”
