The new outdoor sports field complex in Brandon on 1st Street and Veterans Way is coming along.
Since construction began in the spring, underground infrastructure has been installed, also a storm-water retention pond and new dikes, and some land grading has been completed.
A report to city council on Monday said the $16.6-million project is on time, and is $400,000 under budget.
The complex will feature a FIFA-sized soccer pitch, 11 x 11 soccer fields, a dedicated 9 x 9 soccer field, a cricket pitch, a disc golf course, a field house that’ll include washrooms, change rooms, a concession and multi-use space – and a maintenance facility. The grounds will also have walking and bike paths.
The facility is set to open in the spring of 2025.
