Roy Robinson won $1 million, but he almost missed it!
In a media release today, Robinson said “I always scan the tickets on the Lotto Spot app, but I don’t always look to see what I won, I just take the ticket to the store and give it to the cashier.
“When the terminal made the ‘WooHoo!’ sound, I was expecting a $2 win,” he continued. “I think I went into shock when the retailer told me I won a million dollars!”
The Erickson local won his million-dollar prize on the August 5 LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball draw. His winning selection was 23138130-01, a white ball. The happy winner said after he learned just how much he had won, all of his feelings came out. “Oh, I cried,” he laughed, recalling the experience. “Actually, the retailer had to grab me a seat and a bottle of water to calm me down – it was a lot to take in.” “It’s like being in a dream, but you’re awake,” he continued. “It’s shocking!”
Robinson said he has an idea or two for his recent windfall. “To start, I’m going to take care of my mom,” he said. “I want to make sure she has everything she needs.” “I’m also looking at buying a new vehicle,” he continued. “After all that, I’m going to sit back and really think about what to do with the rest.”
Robinson purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from the Canadian Tire Gas Bar located at 1655 18th Street in Brandon a couple days before the August 5 draw.
LOTTO 6/49 tickets are available until 9:30 pm CT on the night of the draw at all Lotto Spot retail locations, Subscription Spot, the Lotto Spot app and on PlayNow.
Erickson is about an hour north of Brandon.
