On Monday (Sept 18) at Brandon City Hall, city councillors approved commissioning the design of a new ice plant at the Sportsplex arena.
Problems with the equipment forced the rink’s closure back in March due to safety concerns.
The estimated cost for the design is $300,000 with an end of December 2023 deadline.
Bidding for installing a new ice plant will take after the design phase – and it’s expected that will be done before December 31, 2024.
