The historic Dome Building was a busy place Tuesday night as the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba hosted its annual Shareholders Annual General Meeting.
Close to one hundred shareholders participated in the meeting, where members could look back on their 2023 events, ask questions and look ahead to the new year.
In addition to hearing reports from the various committee Chairs, seven new board members were elected to the Board of Directors while nine were re-elected.
Elected to new 3-year terms were newcomers Len Isleifson, Jessica Humphries, Bethan Lewis and Leisa Halloran. Those re-elected included Jim Andrey, Jeff Bieganski, Mitchell Eastley, Dan Karashowsky, Dallas Mennie, Angela Pearen, Bob Scott, Clarke Swain and Rick Thomson.
Jordan Sisson and Kerri Hinsburg were elected to new 2-year terms and Don Mitchell was given a one year term.
Now that the Shareholders AGM has come and gone, the focus turns to the Directors’ AGM on Tuesday, February 6th.
In addition to the elections, the Exhibition also announced an overall surplus of $2,879 in 2023.
In announcing the financials, BDO’s Trista White says the Provincial Exhibition shows “positive working capital and is in a strong financial position moving into 2024.”
“On behalf of the Provincial Exhibition’s Executive, management and staff I would like to thank all of our partners and volunteers for the work that they have done and continue to do,” says General Manager Mark Humphries.
Meanwhile Greg Crisanti was named the 2023 recipient of the Jim Figol Memorial Award.
Presented annually since 1991, the Award recognizes a volunteer that embodies the same commitment, spirit and dedication to all of the fairs and the community as Past President James M. Figol.
This year’s winner has served on the Exhibition’s Board for a number of years, including President. As well, he has worked on several committees, including the President’s Dinner, which he currently Chairs.
A tireless volunteer and business leader in Brandon, Crisanti is part owner of Tim Hortons locations in Brandon, Dauphin, Portage, Virden and Moosomin, Saskatchewan.
While Crisanti and his committee continue to finalize plans for next month’s Dinner, scheduled for February 22nd at the Victoria Inn, preparations are also well underway for the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair this March at the Keystone Centre.
