-The Moose Jaw Warriors downed the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-2 on Thursday night. Jayden Wiens and Caleb Hadland scored for Brandon, and Carson Bjarnason made 33 saves in the loss. The Wheat Kings welcome the Calgary Hitmen tonight.
-The league-leading Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings host the Eastman Selects Saturday and Sunday. The Wheat Kings are riding a 26-game winning streak.
-In the NHL last night – the Maple Leafs beat the Flyers 4-3 in overtime, the Ducks downed the Senators 5-1, the Rangers topped the Canadiens 7-4, the Blues doubled the Oilers 6-3, it was the Sharks over the Flames also 6-3 – and the Canucks beat the Red Wings 4-1. The Winnipeg Jets visit the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.
-The Canadian women’s curling championship begins today in Calgary. Manitoba’s Kerry Einarson, who opens against Quebec, is going after her fifth straight national title. The 18-team Scotties Tournament of Hearts concludes February 25th – with the winner curling for Canada at the worlds beginning March 16th in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
-and the Brandon University Bobcats men’s and women’s volleyball teams play tonight and Saturday in Vancouver against the UBC Thunderbirds. The Canada West playoffs begin next week.
