-The Brandon Wheat Kings begin three-games in three-nights tonight in Prince Albert. On Friday, Brandon is in Saskatoon – then back in Prince Albert on Saturday. The Wheat Kings are coming off a 5-2 loss to Saskatoon on Monday.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings won their 29th straight game last night with a 7-0 win over the Parkland Rangers. Burke Hood picked up his 20th win – and his 4th shutout of the season. The Wheat Kings play again Saturday in Winnipeg against the Bruins.
-In the NHL – Auston Matthews scored his 50th goal of the season as the Maple Leafs doubled the Coyots 6-3, the Bruins edged the Oilers 6-5 in overtime, and the Sabres got by the Canadiens 3-2. The Winnipeg Jets return to action Friday in Chicago.
-At the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary – Ontario’s Rachel Homan, Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones, Canada’s Kerri Einarson and Alberta’s Selena Sturmay have all secured playoff berths with victories on Wednesday. The six-team playoff round begins Friday.
-and the Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball team won 62-55 over Saskatchewan to start the Canada West championship tournament in Winnipeg. The Bobcats play the top-ranked Victoria Vikes this afternoon at 3:00 in the quarterfinals.
