-The Winnipeg Jets got goals from Sean Monahan, Brenden Dillon, Kyle Connor and Alex Iafallo in beating the St. Louis Blues 4-2 last night. The Jets and Stars are now tied atop the Central Division with 79 points. The Jets, who’ve now won 4 straight games, open a three-game road trip in Dallas on Thursday.
-NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman doesn’t think the Winnipeg Jets’ low attendance numbers is a crisis. Bettman said last night he has confidence in the team and the Winnipeg hockey market – and the Jets are not going anywhere. Winnipeg has been averaging the second-lowest attendance in the NHL – just over 13,000 fans a game – and owner Mark Chipman has said the shrinking season ticket base would not be sustainable over the long haul. Last night, Only 13,139 fans took in Winnipeg’s game against St. Louis – the lowest attended game at Canada Life Centre in over a month.
-In other NHL action last night – the Golden Knights beat the Maple Leafs 6-2, the Canadiens downed the Coyotes 4-2, Nashville topped Ottawa 4-1, the Flames downed the Kings 4-2, and it was the Penguins over the Canucks 4-3 in overtime.
-and in Major League Baseball spring training – the Toronto Blue Jays lost 6-4 to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. The Jays, who are 1-and-3 in Grapefruit League play, take on the Tampa Bay Rays today.
