-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings beat the Saskatoon Blazers 1-0 in overtime to become Western Regional Champions. They’ll now play in the Telus Cup National Championship in Nova Scotia beginning April 24th. The Wheat Kings are the first Manitoba team to win the West Regional and advance to the Telus Cup since the Winnipeg Thrashers won the National U18 AAA championship in 2011. The Brandon Wheat Kings also captured the West Regional and the National championship in 2004.
-The Winnipeg Jets begin a 3-game road trip tomorrow in Nashville. Winnipeg doubled Minnesota 4-2 on Saturday.
-Canada plays its final preliminary round game against the U-S tonight at the 2024 World Women’s Hockey Championship in Utica, New York. Both teams are 3-0, and the winner will finish first in Group A. Canada shutout Czechia 5-0 on Sunday.
-Sweden’s Niklas Edin won his 7th world men’s curling title on Sunday, a record for a skip, with a 6-5 win over Canada’s Brad Gushue.
-and four-time Grey Cup Champion Andrew Harris is retiring. The star running back will sign a one-day contract on April 27th to officially retire as a Winnipeg Blue Bomber.
