-The Winnipeg Jets won their 4th game in-a-row – a 4-3 overtime win over Nashville last night. Winnipeg is in Dallas tomorrow. The Jets (48-24-6) are seven points back of the Central Division leading Stars, and two points behind the second place Colorado Avalanche. Winnipeg has four games left in the regular season schedule.
-The Virden Oil Capitals lead their best-of-seven MJHL semi-final series 2-games-to-1 after a 4-1 win over the Winkler Flyers on Tuesday. Tonight, the OCN Blizzard host the Steinbach Pistons in Game 3 of their semifinal. The series is tied at one.
-Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones opened her final ‘four-player team tournament’ with a 9-2 loss to Sweden at the Players Championship. Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson, Kaitlyn Lawes, Reid Carruthers and Matt Dunstone also suffered opening round losses.
-Golf courses are starting to open up around the province. This Friday (Apr 12), Shilo Country Club, Kildonan Park Golf Club, Lorette Golf Club and Windsor Park Golf Club are all set to kick-off the 2024 season. Brandon’s Wheat City Golf Club and Deer Ridge Golf Club have not set opening dates, but it’s expected they’ll get rolling in the next few weeks. -Manitoba is set to host the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) championship. The province is providing $1 million to help bring the championship weekend to Winnipeg in August 2025. Manitoba is also investing $450,000 over three years for the Winnipeg Sea Bears’ initial operations. In the Sea Bears inaugural season in 2023, the team sold-out four home games, and posted the top six attendance records in CEBL history in the first eight games.
-and the Toronto Blue Jays can sweep their home-opening series with a win over Seattle today. The Jays beat the Mariners 5-2 on Monday and 5-3 Tuesday.
