-Adam Lowry and Kyle Connor each scored twice as the Winnipeg Jets outlasted the Colorado Avalanche 7-6 last night in Game One of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. Game Two goes Tuesday night also at Winnipeg’s Canada Life Centre.
-In other Game Ones on Sunday, the Panthers beat the Lightning 3-2, the Rangers downed the Capitals 4-1, and the Canucks doubled the Predators 4-2. Tonight – the Maple Leafs are in Boston – and the Hurricanes host the Islanders. The Bruins and Carolina are up 1-0. Also tonight, the Golden Knights and Stars, and the Oilers and Kings play the first games of their series.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings take on Quebec’s Cantonniers de Magog this afternoon in Game One of the Telus Cup national championship in Membertou, Nova Scotia. The semi-final round goes Saturday with the medal games on Sunday.
-In the MJHL Turnbull Cup Final – the Winkler Flyers have taken a 2-0 series lead after defeating the defending champion Steinbach Pistons 3-1 on Sunday. Game Three goes Tuesday in Steinbach.
-The San Diego Padres beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4. The Jays visit the Kansas City Royals tonight.
-and Canada is 3-and-0 and tied with Sweden atop Group B at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.
