-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings earned a silver medal at the Telus Cup in Membertou, Nova Scotia. They dropped a 4-1 decision to Quebec’s Magog Cantonniers in the championship final. The Wheat Kings had an incredible season winning the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League Championship with a 43-0-1-0 during the regular season, and 9-0-0-0 during the playoffs to earn a berth at the West Regionals. At Regionals, Brandon had a record of 3-1-0-0 to win the West Region Championship and earned a trip to the national tournament where they had a record of 4-3-0-0.
-The Regina Rebels won the Esso Cup Saturday in Vernon, B-C. The Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League champions, who swept the Winnipeg Ice in the West Regionals, beat the North York Storm 2-1 in the gold medal game.
-Canada downed Switzerland 8-1 to stay undefeated at the 2024 World U18 Hockey Championship in Finland. The Canadians, wh0 improved to 3-and-0, face Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
-The Winnipeg Jets are down 3-games-to-1 in their first-round NHL playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche. The Av’s won 5-1 on Sunday. Game 5 is Tuesday night in Winnipeg. Elsewhere in the NHL on Sunday, the Canucks edged the Predators 4-3 in overtime, the Oilers blanked the Kings 1-0, and the Rangers eliminated the Capitals with a 4-2 win. Vancouver and Edmonton lead their series 3-1.
-and the Winkler Flyers are the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Turnbull Cup Champions. They beat the Steinbach Pistons 5-4 in overtime on Saturday to take the series in four straight games. It’s their first title since 1998.
