-The Florida Panthers have taken a 3-games-to-2 series lead in the NHL Eastern Conference final – they beat the Rangers 3-2 last night. Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers are in Dallas for Game 5 of the West Final with the Stars. The series is tied at two.
-The Moose Jaw Warriors take on the Saginaw Spirit in the semi-final tonight at the Memorial Cup in Michigan. The winner meets the London Knights in Sunday’s Championship game.
-The Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the Calgary Stampeders tonight in their final pre-season game. The Bombers open the regular season June 6th at home against the Montreal Alouettes in a Grey Cup rematch. Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros and back-up Chris Streveler will sit out this game. Terry Wilson and Darren Grainger are expected to share the quarterbacking duties.
-In the lone South West Baseball League game last night – the Wawanesa Brewers blanked the Oak River Dodgers 7-0.
-and England’s David Skinns had a one-shot lead after the first round of the RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club. He shot an 8-under 62 for a one stroke lead over Sam Burns and Sean O’Hair. Nick Taylor, who was born in Winnipeg, is the defending champion and was tied for 95th after round one.
