-Tickets are on sale for the three possible games in Edmonton for the Stanley Cup final. The Oilers begin the best-of-seven series Saturday night in Florida against the Panthers. Games 3, 4 and, if necessary, 6 will be in Edmonton. Tickets are already available on resale sites, but they’re quite pricey. For Game 3 on June 13th, resale sites StubHub and SeatGeek have individual tickets on sale for about $1,300 and higher in the upper deck.
-Manitoba Moose assistant coach Nolan Baumgartner is joining the Ottawa Senators. The 48-year-old will work as an assistant under bench boss Travis Green. Baumgartner and Green had previously worked together with the AHL’s Utica Comets and the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.
-Canadian Olympic MVP and member of Montreal’s team in the Professional Women’s Hockey League Melodie Daoust is retiring from playing hockey. The 32-year-old has taken a new job as head coach at Bourget College in Quebec.
-The Canadian national women’s soccer team tied Mexico at one in yesterday’s ‘friendly’ as they gear up for this summer’s Olympics in France. Canada opens defense of its Olympic title on July 25th against New Zealand.
-In the lone South West Baseball League game last night, the Virden Oilers beat the Oak River Dodgers 9-2. In the Majors, the Baltimore Orioles dumped the Toronto Blue Jays 10-1. The Jays managed just five hits on the night.
-and the Vancouver Bandits beat the Edmonton Stingers 93-90 in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Tonight – the 2-and-1 Winnipeg Sea Bears visit the 2-and-2 Brampton Honey Badgers.
