-Canada beat Peru 1-nil to pick-up its first win at the Copa America international men’s soccer tournament. Canada’s next game is against Chile on Saturday, it’s final Group match. Top-seeded Argentina leads Group A with a 2-0 record, followed by Canada at 1-1. Chile and Peru both have a tie and a loss. The top two teams will advance.
-At Euro 2024 – France and Poland tied at 1, Austria downed Netherlands 3-2, and both Denmark and Serbia and England and Slovenia finished with scoreless draws.
-The Winnipeg Jets have signed 31-year-old defenceman Dylan DeMelo to a four-year contract extension. He played all 82 games for the Jets last season, setting career highs with 31 points and 28 assists.
-Shea Weber, Pavel Datsyuk, Jeremy Roenick and former U.S. National team players Natalie Darwitz and Krissy Wendell-Pohl will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame November 11th in Toronto. The class of 2024 also includes builders Colin Campbell and David Poile.
-The Toronto Blue Jays snapped a 7-game losing streak with a 9-4 win over the Boston Red Sox.
