Fire Evacuation
More than 1-thousand people from 4 First nations had to be evacuated following Smoke from wildfires in northern Manitoba.
The Brandon Sun is reporting that 46 residents of the Manto Sipi Cree Nation now taking refuge in Brandon, according to Canadian Red Cross spokesperson Jason Small.
“The Canadian Red Cros says there are more coming by plane soon.

Russell Rcmp Mounties have charged a former priest living in Regina with sexually assaulting a young girl in Manitoba five decades ago.
Police say they began investigating in 2022 after the complainant, who is now in her 60s, reported being sexually assaulted over two years in the early 1970s.
The alleged assaults happened when she was 11 and 12 and a parishioner at St. Elijah Romanian Orthodox Church in Lennard, about 2 hrs south of Brandon.

A Brandon man facing allegations of being involved in a shooting at the Little Chalet Motel earlier this year, was granted bail in court yesterday.
The Brandon Suns reports that Kristian Bruce, 23, is charged with numerous weapons offences after his alleged involvement with 2-other men accused of firing shots into one of the chalets at the motel in June.
