A series of projects under the umbrella of Prairie Mountain Health, including an expansion to the Brandon Regional Health Centre, have been going ahead this summer. PMH is offering an update on their status as of the end of last month.
Expansion and renovation of clinical spaces within the BRHC continues, and is on pace to be finished in winter of 2026. The finished project will include a new 16-bed Intensive Care Unit, 30 additional beds on the second floor, and a shell for future expansions.
The closest to completion is the Western Manitoba Cancer Care Centre, which is on track to be finished next month. The 9,418 square foot expansion includes space for the ‘Paul Albrechtsen Centre for Hope’ for counselling, and a second medical linear accelerator (used in beam radiation treatment).
Recently, PMH held a grand opening ceremony for the expanded Russell Health Centre, which now has a cancer care unit. According to their release of August 21, the last details of this expansion involve the parking lot, and they expect it to be wrapped up before the end of the year.
Additional projects in Dauphin, Neepawa, and Swan River are underway as well, with renovations to the Dauphin Regional Health Centre continuing through this summer. Neepawa’s new hospital, which will be four times the size of their current one, is supposed to be complete by summer of 2026.
