Five people faces charges related to drug trafficking after being arrested by Dauphin RCMP following a traffic stop within the city limits.
According to an RCMP release, members of the Dauphin detachment conducted a traffic stop at about 8:30 PM on October 28 on a vehicle with five people inside on Main Street in Dauphin.
Police allege that the driver indicated they didn’t have their license with them. The 33-year-old woman from Crane River was found to be in violation of a curfew, and one of her passengers, a 29-year-old man, was deemed to have an outstanding warrant.
Searching the passenger, police said they found drug paraphernalia. After that search, they then searched the vehicle, where they said they found 44 grams of crack cocaine and Canadian currency.
In addition to the female driver and passenger, three others were arrested: a 24-year-old from Norway House was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to comply with a release order, and an outstanding warrant from Ottawa.
A 39-year-old and 59-year-old, both from Ochre River, were also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
RCMP continue to investigate.
