-The Winnipeg Jets beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-4 Sunday to improve to 11-and-1. The Jets’ Nikolaj Ehlers also became the highest-scoring Danish-born player of all-time with 474 points – and Kyle Connor extended his season-opening point streak to 12 games. Winnipeg returns to action tomorrow when they welcome Utah.
-The Brandon Wheat Kings play next this Friday in Regina against the Pats. Brandon beat Medicine Hat 3-0 on Saturday.
-The Brandon AAA U-18 Wheat Kings beat the 1st place Winnipeg Bruins 4-3 in a shoot-out Sunday afternoon. Brandon improves to 9-1-0-1 and sits in 4th place in the league. Next action for the Wheat Kings is this weekend as they travel to Winnipeg for a pair of games against the Wild on Friday and the Thrashers on Saturday.
-The Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball team dropped both of their games this past weekend – 91-71 to the University of Winnipeg Wesmen last Friday, and 81-74 to the University of Manitoba Bisons on Sunday. The Bobcats women’s team also lost their games – 71-68 to the U of W, and 79-64 to the U of M.
-Rachael Homan’s Ottawa rink beat South Korea to win the women’s Pan Continental Curling Championship on Saturday – while Brad Gushue lost to the U-S in last Friday’s bronze medal game.
-The CFL Division finals are set. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders this Saturday for the West title – and the Toronto Argonauts will face the Montreal Alouettes for the East crown. The winners advance to the 111th Grey Cup game on November 17th.
-and the Minnesota Vikings are now 6-and-2 after a 21-13 win over the Colts on Sunday. Tonight, the Kansas City Chiefs host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
