-Canada plays Japan this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the U18 Women’s World Hockey Championship in Finland.
-The Brandon Wheat Kings suit up again Friday when they host the Winter Hawks.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings beat the Parkland Rangers 4-1. Brandon improves to 25-4-0-2 and remain in 1st place in the league 3 points ahead of the 2nd place Winnipeg Bruins. Next action for the Wheat Kings is next Wednesday, January 15th when they host the Yellowhead Chiefs.
-In the PWHL on Wednesday – Minnesota beat Boston 2-1 and Montreal doubled Toronto 4-2.
-The Winnipeg Jets return to action Friday when they host the Los Angeles Kings.
-Next season, the NHL is holding two outdoors games in Florida. The Panthers will play the New York Rangers in Miami and the Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Boston Bruins. The Miami game will be played at the home of baseball’s Marlins which has a retractable roof. They’ll close it, crank the AC and play at night. In Tampa, the NHL will build a temporary roof over the ice surface, and remove it a few hours before game time.
