In a media release on Tuesday (Mar 4), the City of Brandon says with the new U.S. tariffs taking effect, the City is “assessing the potential impact on municipal operations and significant projects. Collaboration between all levels of government is essential in presenting a unified strategy.”
“The City of Brandon stands united with our nation, which is crucial for protecting jobs and investments in our community,” said Mayor Jeff Fawcett. “By prioritizing core services and ensuring value for Brandon residents, we are committed to working closely with our Federal and Provincial partners. We will continue to closely monitor the evolving tariff situation and strive to minimize its impacts on our residents and businesses.”
“To address the potential impact of tariffs, the City is looking at a task force that will report directly to City Council on an as needed basis. Given the dynamic nature of this situation, future updates will be provided as needed.”
U.S. tariffs could increase the cost of on-going and future projects.
