A 36-year-old man from Brandon faces numerous charges, including aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer after an arrest by Dauphin RCMP on May 11.
According to RCMP, they got a call at about 1:15 PM of an assault on 1st Avenue NW in Dauphin. Arriving at the scene, they found a 37-year-old woman with serious injuries. She was taken to hospital, then transported to Winnipeg via STARS air ambulance.
After getting a description of a suspect from bystanders, police said they found a man who matched the description and arrested him. They allege that while he was in police custody he assaulted officers.
Brendan Komarnicki, of Brandon, faces the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Assault while Choking, Suffocating or Strangling
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Assault on a Police Officer
- Assault on a Police Officer with a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking Condition
Komarnicki was remanded into custody. He is presumed innocent.
