Manitoba Hydro inside workers are holding a strike vote Friday. About 870 Manitoba Hydro staff, including IT, customer engagement and administrative support staff, are represented by CUPE 998. CUPE says Friday’s strike vote follows months of bargaining, which “failed to present an offer consistent with what it has reached with other bargaining units within Manitoba Hydro.

The Town of Lynn Lake being evacuated due to northern Manitoba wildfire. Crews pulled back from the fire line because of extreme conditions, meantime Flin Flon residents are now evacuation standby. There are 17 active wildfires burning across Manitoba as of Monday. There have been 93 fires so far this year — 24 per cent higher than last year’s total by this point.

Canada Post and the union representing 55,000 of its workers are set to head back to the bargaining table today, as an overtime ban remains in effect. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says Canada Post plans to respond to proposals the union presented on Sunday.

King Charles delivered a 27-minute Speech from the Throne Tuesday. He drew the biggest applause, referencing O Canada, saying “the True North is indeed strong and free; and that Canadians have come “together in a renewed sense of national pride, unity and hope.” Former Prime Ministers and Mb’s Premier Wab Kinew were also in attendance.
