According to a media release, on May 29, 2025, at approximately 3:00 am, Dauphin RCMP received a report of a stabbing outside a business on 2nd Avenue SW, in Dauphin.
Officers responded immediately and when they arrived located a 25-year-old female with injuries sustained by a knife.
She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries.
While on scene, police received a report of second stabbing at a residence on 2nd Avenue NE.
Officers responded to discover a 53-year-old female was also suffering from serious injuries sustained by a knife who also disclosed she had also been sexually assaulted. She was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses provided a description of a male suspect to officers. Dauphin RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), began patrols immediately and quickly located the 31-year-old suspect.
He was arrested without further incident and PDS Marook located the weapon believed to be used in the attacks.
Both victims were not known to the suspect. There is no risk to public safety as it’s believed the suspect acted alone.
Marcus Mclean, 31, from Brandon has been charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Sexual Assault with a Weapon, and Uttering Threats Against a Person. He was remanded into custody.
Dauphin RCMP along with Forensic Identification Services (FIS) continue to investigate.
