-The Florida Panthers won their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship last night. They beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6. Florida’s Sam Bennett won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs MVP.
-The Brandon Wheat Kings have signed forward Jimmy Egan, and he’ll join the team for training camp. He becomes the first ever U.S. draft pick to sign with the Wheat Kings. Egan, who tore up the U-16 AAA ranks in the last season, was the team’s second selection, 26th overall, in the 2023 U.S. priority draft.
-In the Southwest Baseball League – Reston downed the Brandon Young Guns 15-9, and it was Souris over Deloraine 21-5.
-The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4.
-Canada thumped Honduras 6-0 to open their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign. Canada returns to action on June 21st when they face No. 90 Curaçao in Houston. The team will wrap up Group B play against No. 81 El Salvador on June 24th. The winner and runner-up from each of the four groups advance to the knockout stage in the 16-team tournament. The finale will be held in Houston on July 6th.
