A staple of Brandon’s food scene is soon to shut its doors. Benny’s Restaurant and Catering Services on Rosser Avenue has announced it will shut its doors after Saturday, August 2.
In a social media post, ownership said they would still be open from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday to Saturday leading up to the closing day.
“After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Benny’s Restaurant after August 2nd, 2025,” reads a post on Benny’s Facebook page. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us, big or small, near or far. While Benny’s closes its doors, the memories and connections we’ve made will last a lifetime.”
Benny’s changed ownership in February of 2024, not quite six months after the original owner, Ben Hernandez, passed away at the age of 61. He was posthumously awarded a Lifetime Business Builder award by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce in 2024.
The Facebook post on Benny’s page hinted at further news to come, as the owners posted: “Stay tuned for updates on how we plan to keep the spirit of Benny’s alive.”
