Yellowhead RCMP said they do not suspect foul play after 27-year-old man died of drowning in the Keeseekoowenin lagoon on August 7.
In a press release, police said on August 7, at 4:20 pm, Elphinstone RCMP received a report of a missing 27-year-old male from Shoal Lake, who was last seen in Keeseekoowenin First Nation. Officers learned that Keeseekoowenin First Nation Security had attempted to stop a vehicle, driven by the missing male, in their community at about 10:00 pm the previous night.
Police said the vehicle fled, but security were able to find it abandoned near the community lagoon. At 8:40 pm on August 7, Sandy Lake Search and Rescue found the man dead in the water of the lagoon.
While foul play is not suspected, RCMP will continue to investigate.
