Adam Driver is blowing “Star Wars” fans’ minds after he revealed in a sitdown with “AP” that he almost starred in another franchise film.
The actor, who brought Kylo Ren to life, admitted “I always was interested in doing another ‘Star Wars’…since 2021.” He revealed he noted to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, “with a great director and a great story, I’d be there in a second.” That great director he’s talking about? That would be Steven Soderbergh.
The two developed a post–“Rise of Skywalker” project called “The Hunt for Ben Solo,” a story Driver says was “one of the coolest [ ] scripts I had ever been a part of.” Kennedy and other Lucasfilm studio heads reportedly “loved” the idea, but when the idea hit Disney brass, Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, “they said no.”
As Driver puts it, “They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that… But it is no more, so I can finally talk about it.” In a separate statement to “AP,” Soderbergh added to Driver’s sentiment saying, “I really enjoyed making the movie in my head. I’m just sorry the fans won’t get to see it.”
