Sabrina Carpenter is set to star in and produce a new musical inspired by “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” for Universal Pictures.
This will be the pop star’s first major studio lead role. Carpenter has a background in acting, including in “Tall Girl” and “Girls Meets World.” She first pitched the idea to Universal last year.
Netflix previously acquired an “Alice In Wonderland” musical pitch from Carpenter, announced back in 2020, that ultimately didn’t go anywhere.
The upcoming film will be written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, known for “Hustlers” and HBO’s “I Love L.A.”
