It was made by the university’s rural research team and provincial organizations to address the need for accessible info. It contains info on crisis services, shelters, counselling, and medical care into both a printable and digital format across northern Manitoba.

-Parents and students in Brandon are concerned about washroom safety, bullying, and emergency communication after feedback from the school advisory committee on Monday. The Superintendent said he wants more supervision, cameras, and clearer protocols, as students in several school areas have said they feel unsafe in the washrooms, hallways and playgrounds.

-Manitoba businesses bought about $1.9 million dollars worth of American alcohol, after the province temporarily lifted the ban on Monday. The government wants to raise funds for holiday charities by selling the booze before it expires. Public sales start today and will run until December 24th.

-The Brandon Wheat Kings will be hosting a Fill the Truck campaign on the 10th and 28th of December. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable foods to the game and help fill the truck on the ramp for the Samaritan House Food Bank. The team will also donate $1 for every fan at both games.

-Deep sky held a community meeting Monday evening to discuss a proposed carbon-capture facility in southwestern Manitoba, which could store up to 500 thousand tones of CO2 per year. While Deep sky say the meeting “went as it should have”, residents say the company couldn’t answer technical questions about the project. Once approved, the company plans to start construction in the third quarter of 2026, and be fully operational by 2031.

-The Manitoba Trucking Association says US and Chinese tariffs, plus a slow economy, are impeding trucking and agri-food exports. US exports fell 6.2 per cent and Chinese exports fell 32 per cent in the first half of 2025. Due to this uncertainty, Trucking businesses are training less drivers and delaying major investments.

-A 27-year-old Brandon man has been sentenced to 6 months time served on Monday after he chased a woman around the Clarion Hotel & Suites with what she thought was a gun. Vincent Mitchell was later arrested by Police and was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of stolen property.

-Brandon provincial court denied bail to 26-year-old Andre Martindale after he choked a nurse and attempted to stab her with a needle. His bail was denied Tuesday due to his history of charges including a history of assault, weapons, and failing to comply with release conditions. The judge said if he was to be released, he would reoffend and find himself back in custody.
