Some properties enrolled in the City of Brandon’s Tax Installment Plan (TIP) may have had a duplicate withdrawal in February, and the city is working to make sure the money goes back to the right people.
According to a release, the City found out yesterday that a banking error had caused some properties in TIP to pay their fees twice. They said 1,274 properties enrolled in the TIP program were affected.
“The City is actively working with our banking provider to ensure that the duplicate transactions reversed as quickly as possible,” said the City in a release. “Refund of the duplicate payments will begin processing Wed, Feb. 18 and completed by Fri, Feb. 20.”
The release added the City would be contacting affected property owners directly, and appreciated people’s patience as they work to give appropriate refunds.
