Gas Prices Rising
A rise in gas prices that may be caused by foreign conflicts has made its way to Brandon
Regular gasoline was as high as 1.44 per litre at some gas stations around the city as of yesterday afternoon.
Just two months ago, according to Statistics Canada, Manitoba had some of the lowest gas prices in the country
Polar Plunge
Yesterday was the Clear Lake Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Manitoba
According to Special Olympics Manitoba’s Facebook page, they’ve raised over $10,000 through online donations alone
Freeze Thaw
A freeze-thaw cycle in Brandon left highways slick and several pools of water from backed up drains around roads this morning.
Richmond Avenue East saw some sizeable water buildup in the eastbound lane, and there was a large buildup of water near Assiniboine College.
Brandon could’ve had it worse, however; Environment Canada said they registered winds between 90 and 110 kilometers per hour in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Tainted Drugs
Health officials in Winnipeg are sounding the alarm about an animal tranquilizer being cut into recreational drugs.
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority said they had found a tablet containing both heroin and medetomidine, which has been linked to several overdoses in the United States
They warn that naloxone cannot reverse the effects of an overdose involving medetomidine
War in the Middle East
