Grown-ups don’t want kids to have all the fun on holidays, as new research suggests what began as “Adultoween” has hopped over to Easter. Ferrero first noticed the trend of adults reclaiming the holiday during Halloween 2024, but now it includes Easter, too. According to a new survey from the candy company, two-thirds of adults believe they deserve Easter baskets as much as children.
Their poll of 1,000 North Americans finds that 70% say Easter is the best time of year for both kids and grown-ups to indulge in candy together.

- But 36% of adults confess to secretly eating their kids’ Easter candy without telling them.
- More than a quarter (27%) have competed with their own kids to find eggs first in the Easter egg hunt and 18% admit to cheating to win.
- But even worse? Another 17% intentionally spoiled the Easter Bunny for a child.
- A third are likely to buy Easter candy in bulk and hide it for themselves, or build their own Easter basket.
- While 56% admit they can’t wait to start enjoying the candy before the holiday arrives, 64% plan to wait until the day after Easter to snag the sweets on sale.
- More than a quarter (28%) buy Easter candy specifically for themselves, not just for kids.
- Peanut butter candies are the favorite for 48% of adults in the survey, followed by dark chocolate treats (46%), and chocolate eggs (44%).
- Over half (52%) think Easter candy tastes better than Halloween candy and nearly half (49%) say the Easter Bunny is just as important as Santa Claus.
- As for the debate on where to start with eating a chocolate bunny, 57% go with ears first, and just 6% start with the feet.
