Dauphin RCMP are asking for help from the public to identify a possible suspect after an 82-year-old man was assaulted on Tuesday.
In a release, RCMP said they got a call of an assault at about 6:50 PM outside a residential address on the 200-block of Main Street North in Dauphin. A man who didn’t live at the multi-unit residence was going through garbage behind the building when he was told by the victim to leave. The suspect grabbed the victim, who was walking down a set of stairs, and punched him, then pulled him down the rest of the staircase by a leg. The victim suffered minor injuries.
According to police, he was last seen walking south down the back alley. RCMP are releasing photos of the suspect in the hope someone can identify him. He appears to be at least 5’11”, thin and wearing a red jacket or sweater with white lettering on the front. The suspect was also wearing black shoes with white soles and what appears to be red lettering or logo near the toes.
Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity, or any other aspect of this incident, is asked to call Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5050, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
