Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
Over the past 24 hours, two individuals, who were highly intoxicated, were taken into custody under the Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA). All will be released once sober.
Flight / Dangerous Driving/ Impaired Operation / Failure to Comply Release Order
On June 15th at approximately 11:35 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed that proceeded through a red light at 26th Street and Victoria Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign while travelling northbound at 34th Street and Rosser Avenue. The vehicle did not immediately pull over when police emergency lights were activated but was subsequently stopped in Antelope Bay. The driver displayed signs of impairment, and breath samples provided readings of 100 mg% and 80 mg%.
The 19-year-old male driver was charged with impaired driving. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days. The male was arrested and lodged in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and was scheduled to be released the following morning once sober on an Appearance Notice, with a court date set for June 22nd, 2026.
Arrest Warrant
On June 15th at 12:01 p.m. a 16-year-old male attended BPS aware of a Warrant for his Arrest. He was arrested on an Endorsed Warrant (Assault / Uttering Threats). The male was released via Undertaking with a future court date of July 14th, 2026.
