Manitoba health officials have added the Neepawa Health Centre to the province’s growing list of measles exposure sites, marking another significant alert in a year where cases have surged to levels not seen in decades. According to the province, individuals who were in the ER waiting room on June 3 from 11:20 a.m. to 5:25 p.m., or in diagnostic imaging that same day from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., may have been exposed and should monitor for symptoms until June 25.
The Neepawa exposure comes as Manitoba continues to face a sharp rise in measles activity. As of late May, the province has recorded 1,015 total cases since February 2025 — including 908 confirmed and 107 probable — with 49 hospitalizations and four ICU admissions. This represents a dramatic increase compared to last year’s totals, when Manitoba reported 319 confirmed cases and 29 probable cases over the same period — meaning case counts have more than tripled year‑over‑year. (This comparison is based on provincial data tables updated June 5, 2026.)
Health officials say the surge is being driven largely by low vaccination rates. More than 82% of all cases involved individuals who had received zero doses of the MMR vaccine, while only 8% had two or more doses.
Public health continues to urge Manitobans to review their MMR immunization status, especially those in Prairie Mountain Health, where several exposure sites — including Neepawa — have been identified in recent weeks
