Three people face drug and firearm-related charges after a search of a home in Shoal Lake, RCMP announced today. They said their West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) began investigating on May 27 after a number of break-ins on rural properties resulted in numerous firearms being stolen. The thefts largely occurred near Shoal Lake, in the Yellowhead region.
According to police, they executed search warrants at a home on the 200-block of McKenzie Street in Shoal Lake on June 10. There they allegedly recovered several firearms, ammunition, methamphetamine, cash, illegal cigarettes, illegal marijuana and other paraphernalia, and arrested three people (two women and one man).
In the release, police allege the two men they arrested have since been tied to a break and enter that occurred at a residential property on May 24 in the RM of Yellowhead. In that incident, RCMP attempted to pull over a truck near the scene, only for the truck to speed away. For public safety reasons, RCMP did not pursue. The truck matched the description of the truck later seen parked in front of the residence on McKenzie Street.
