Music, community spirit and a commitment to helping children come together once again this weekend as the annual Little Valley Jamboree returns to Erickson.
The event began in 1998 when founder Rod Lewandoski combined two passions — country music and helping children in need. What started as a fundraiser in the small community of Polonia has since grown into a major annual event that supports children with special needs while drawing visitors from across western Manitoba.
Originally organized to help two young girls and raise funds for a community hall, the jamboree quickly gained support from volunteers, musicians, businesses and community groups. Through the years, it evolved into a two-day festival featuring live entertainment, auctions, food and fundraising activities.
The jamboree moved to Erickson in 2006 after organizers were searching for a new home. Since then, local organizations and volunteers have helped expand the event while maintaining its focus on supporting children and families. Organizers say the event now benefits two children annually and provides additional assistance to families throughout the year.
This year’s fundraiser will support children from the Miniota and Forrest areas. Organizers say a record 187 sponsors have stepped forward to help make the 2026 event possible.
In addition to live music, visitors can enjoy 50-50 draws, a live auction and opportunities to meet the families being supported through this year’s event.
