Dua Lipa is a known book fan. The artist has her own Service95 Book Club, and got together with her now-husband Callum Turner after they discovered they were both reading the same book. Now she’s bringing her love of books to even more people by opening The Manifesto Library inside a historic bookstore in Porto, Portugal. provoke reflection on freedom, identity, memory and critical thinking,” including works that have been banned or restricted. Lipa shares in a statement she wanted the library to be “a home for writers and readers,” adding that “not everyone is in favor” of reading freely. She also called the collection “a shrine to books that have disappeared” and to authors who risked everything for their words. Beyond housing books, the library is designed to serve as a gathering place for discussions, debates, and public reflection.
