A burst of heavy rainfall Monday night led to localized flooding across several areas of Brandon, prompting City crews to monitor conditions closely and respond where needed. Residents were urged to use caution on the roads and avoid driving through standing water, which can appear shallow but often hides deeper hazards.
Some of the hardest‑hit areas included Richmond Avenue between 18th and 20th, parts of the Coral Centre, and the east side of the 1st Street and Park Avenue intersection. Drivers also ran into trouble on McDiarmid Drive and Hickory Street, where one vehicle had its bumper torn off while travelling through floodwater. The drain at 5th and Rosser struggled to keep up, and 1st and Richmond saw significant pooling overnight.

As of Tuesday morning, most standing water in these problem zones has receded. City crews continue to monitor the situation and respond as needed. Anyone experiencing flooding concerns requiring attention can contact the City of Brandon at 204‑729‑2285. Residents are reminded to slow down, give crews space to work, and prioritize safety as cleanup continues throughout the community.
