People living on several streets in the Town of Swan River have been instructed by the town to evacuate due to rising flood water and what they describe as limited ability for emergency services to respond.
In a post on their Facebook page, the town said anyone living on Sixth Avenue North, Seventh Avenue North, River Park Drive, Duncan Crescent, Heyes Street, Crescent Drive, and Centennial Drive should prepare to evacuate for as much as 72 hours. This means they should bring medication with them as well as pets and pet supplies, valuables, and important documents.
The town has established an evacuation centre at the Veterans Community Hall on 6th Avenue North and are encouraging any residents who have to evacuate to go there. They also said they will provide more updates whenever they can.
The RM of Swan Valley West also saw multiple roads destroyed by flooding earlier this year.
