An 18-year-old man from Crane River First Nation faces weapons and threat-related charges after an arrest by Ste Rose du Lac RCMP over the weekend.
According to police, at about 5:30 PM on June 28, they were called to a report of an armed adult male who had come to a house on the Crane River First Nation and threatened to harm the father of someone who lived there. They then learned the suspect then left the area in an older red SUV.
While responding to the call, RCMP said they received a report that the same suspect was at a different home in the community, carrying both a handgun and a rifle. Police went to that home, noted an older red SUV parked in front of the residence and saw a suspect matching the description from the previous incident enter the home.
From there, police allege they made numerous attempts over a loud speaker to get the suspect to surrender himself, with no response. RCMP Police Dog Services and Emergency Response Team (ERT), as well as members of the RCMP West District General Investigation Section, were called in to assist.
Police said the suspect exited the home at approximately 11:20 p.m. and was arrested without incident, and multiple weapons were subsequently seized.
McGlare Campbell, 18, of Crane River First Nation is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, weapons possession contrary to order, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.
None of the charges against him have been proven in court and he is presumed innocent.
