Sub‑headline: Manitoba’s latest wildfire status available at the provincial dashboard: Manitoba Fire Information
Federal officials are set to deliver a national update on Canada’s wildfire season today, with the number of fires continuing to outpace last year. The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre reports roughly 3,100 fires so far — slightly higher than the 2,900 recorded at this point in 2025 — although the total area burned remains significantly lower. About 12,000 square kilometres have burned nationwide, compared with 46,000 at this time last year.
Emergency Management Minister Eleanor Olszewski and federal officials are expected to outline current conditions, suppression efforts, and projected trends heading into mid‑July as crews across the country continue to respond to active fires.
In Manitoba, activity remains limited. The province is currently reporting one active wildfire, located near Lynn Lake. Multiple outlets confirm the blaze is still being suppressed by Manitoba Wildfire Service, and the provincial FireView dashboard shows all other fires listed as “Out.” Recent rainfall and cooler stretches have helped keep Manitoba’s fire load low through early summer.
Residents can track real‑time provincial wildfire conditions, active fires, and fire danger ratings through the Manitoba government’s wildfire dashboard at Manitoba Fire Information.
Provincial crews continue monitoring conditions closely as the national briefing gets underway.
