Communities across Manitoba are gearing up for the 7th annual Free Fry Day, with McCain Foods once again handing out free products and collecting donations to support families facing childhood illness. The event runs Thursday, July 16, with drive‑thru locations operating in Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Carman, Glenboro and Carberry.
Free Fry Day has grown into a major community tradition, drawing volunteers, mascots, media and local partners together for a cause that directly supports families with children receiving medical care. Visitors can pick up free McCain products and make donations to Ronald McDonald House Manitoba (RMH), which provides comfort, care and a home‑away‑from‑home for families during some of their most difficult moments.
Funds raised support RMH Manitoba’s two core programs: the Ronald McDonald House on Juno Street and the Ronald McDonald Family Room inside HSC Children’s Hospital. Last year’s event brought in more than $75,000, helping families stay close to their children while they undergo treatment.
RMH Manitoba CEO Wendy Galagan says Free Fry Day showcases the generosity and spirit of Manitobans, noting the event brings together communities from Winnipeg, rural Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. McCain Foods leaders echo that sentiment, highlighting more than 25 years of partnership with RMH Manitoba through volunteer work and donations.
Event hours vary by community, with locations open throughout the day to make it easy for families to stop by, pick up free fries and support a cause that touches thousands across the province.
