Just two days after securing their import situation for the coming season, the Brandon Wheat Kings have made a trade that does the same for their 20-year-olds.
The team announced today they have traded 2006-born defenseman Dylan Ronald to the Edmonton Oil Kings. Ronald, a native of Ponoka, Alberta, played 106 games for the Wheat Kings over the past two seasons.
Despite being undrafted, and despite missing most of the 2022-23 season due to injury, Ronald made the Wheat Kings as an 18-year-old rookie in 2024-25. In his first season in Black and Gold, Ronald posted five goals and 19 assists in 64 games, following that up with a goal and an assist in five playoff games against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Ronald suffered an injury that limited him to 42 games for the Wheat Kings in 2025-26, but he still matched his goal total from the prior season while also picking up seven assists.
The remaining 2006-born players on the Wheat Kings roster are recently signed import forward Kristof Muissu, returning forward Brett Wilson, and goaltender Jayden Kraus.
