Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours four individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will be released once sober/calm.
Arrest Warrant
In the past 24 hours BPS members have executed four Arrest Warrants. Two were held for court in the morning and two were released via Appearance Notices with future court dates.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours, one individual was arrested under the PDCIPA. At 5:15 p.m. on July 29th police were called to a male passed out on the ground on Cornwallis Crescent. The 17-year-old male was brought to BPS detention cells and will be released once sober.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On July 29th at 8:17 a.m. the stolen black Mercedez Benz was located parked and unoccupied on the walking path near the 000 block of Riverheights Drive. The registered owner has been notified, and the incident remains under investigation.
Assault by Choking (IPV)
On July 29th at 11:41 a.m. a female attended BPS to report an assault that took place the day prior in the 500 block of 4th Street. Police located the accused. The 20-year-old male was arrested, charged and later released via Undertaking with a future court date of October 8th, 2026.
Operation While Impaired / Operation Exceeding 80mgs%
The blood alcohol analysis from a single-vehicle collision that occurred on May 11th, 2026, returned a result of 225 mgs% for the 36-year-old female driver. The accused is currently in custody at the Women’s Correctional Centre. While in custody, she was advised of the new charges and served with the required documentation.
She is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of July 30th, 2026, in relation to these charges.
Theft Under $5000
On July 29th at 11:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a grocery store in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. The suspect stole just under $100 worth of steak before leaving the store. Officers obtained and reviewed security footage, which enabled them to identify the suspect. The 32-year-old male was later located during a traffic stop and placed under arrest. He was charged in connection with the incident and released on an Appearance Notice. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 28th, 2026.
Obstruction
Around midnight, in the early morning hours of July 30th, a traffic stop was conducted in the 1100 block of 18th Street. The operator of the vehicle, a 42-year-old Kelowna man, was told he was being detained for an impaired investigation. He refused to exit the vehicle. The male was physically removed from the vehicle. The mail failed two tests on the roadside and was arrested for impaired driving. Once at BPS, he was not cooperative. The male was taken to hospital for blood samples then brought to BPS detention cells. He will attend court in the morning as he indicated he resides out of province. The impaired investigation will continue.
Aggravated Assault
At 2:43 a.m. on July 30th, police responded to an apartment in the 3500 block of Willowdale Crescent after receiving a report of an Assault with a Weapon.
A 54-year-old male sustained injuries to his hand, face, and neck after being attacked by his 44-year-old roommate with a butcher knife. The victim suffered a significant laceration to his neck and was transported by ambulance to hospital for treatment. The 44-year-old male suspect was arrested at the scene and brought to BPS detention cells. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 30th, 2026.
Possession for Purposing of Trafficking – Cocaine
At 2:10 a.m. on July 30th, police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 1st Street North. The driver was initially detained after officers observed open liquor in the vehicle. During the subsequent investigation, officers seized approximately four ounces of cocaine packaged in 10 baggies. A cellphone, digital scale, and a small amount of cash were also seized. The 19-year-old male was arrested and charged. He was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 8th, 2026.
