Following heavy rains and flooding in June that damaged or destroyed dozens of roads, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) announced today they had made significant progress in restoring access to provincial roads in both the Parkland and Interlake Regions.
According to a release, there were more than 50 provincial roads that had been damaged or completely washed out by the heavy rainfall of last month. While not every road has been restored to service, the following roadways have reopened :
- Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 5 – 2.4 kilometre (km) west of PTH 10 at Wilson River;
- PTH 10 – 2.3 km east of PTH 83 at Tamarack Creek;
- PTH 10 – 2.4 km north of Provincial Road (PR) 271 at Pine River;
- PTH 10 – 3.3 km west of PR 366;
- PTH 20 – 9.8 km north of PR 271;
- PTH 77;
- PTH 83 – 1.6 km south of PTH 10;
- PTH 83 – 6.5 km north of PTH 57; and
- PR 366 – from PTH 5 to PR 485.
“While many routes have reopened,” said MTI in their release, “drivers are reminded that some roads may continue to have reduced speed limits, temporary repairs, single-lane traffic or ongoing construction activities. Drivers should obey all posted signage and exercise caution when travelling through affected areas.”
