Organizations that want to make a difference in Brandon and throughout southwest Manitoba have a chance to apply for grants from the Brandon Area Community Foundation starting today, the organization announced.
In a release, the BACF said they would open the registration window from August 4 to September 23. They have previously supported projects including rink upgrades, food security programs, arts spaces, and equipment.
“These aren’t just grants, they’re an investment in what our communities will look like for years to come,” said Tanis Chalmers, Executive Director of the Brandon Area Community Foundation. “Every project we fund is chosen because it adds real meaning and purpose to the people who live here, and because it plants something that will still be growing long after the ribbon-cutting.”
According to the release, the BACF granted more than $1.9 million last year to 47 local charities, including $800,426 through the 2025 Community Grants stream. This included $50,000 for the STARS Foundation (Manitoba) to be put toward a ventilator replacement project, $50,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba for pediatric oncology unit upgrades, $20,000 for KidSport Manitoba, and $50,000 for the John Howard Society of Brandon for a hydroponic farm and food security initiative.
The BACF was established in 1965 and has since managed over $30 million across 100 funds.
