Municipal elections are now just over two months away, campaign signs have sprung up all across Brandon, and the City of Brandon would like to make sure the people represented on those signs have a fair chance to get their message out to voters. In a post on their Facebook page, the City asked residents not to tamper with, damage, or relocate campaign signs.
“Election signs are an important part of the democratic process and provide candidates with an opportunity to share their message with the community,” they said via their social media. “Residents are reminded not to remove, damage, or relocate election signs. Every candidate deserves the opportunity to participate in a fair and respectful election.”
If you do see someone damaging or otherwise tampering with a sign, the City asks that you not take action yourself, but rather contact the Brandon Police Service’s By-Law Unit at 204-729-2345.
Municipal Council and School Board elections are set for October 28.
